This fish loves the ladies. Keep this in a group with plenty of females.
The hardiest Anthias, the Lyretail Anthias does very well in captivity. It is recommended to keep only a single fish in smaller to medium size aquariums like 55-75 gallons. If you wish to keep a group, it is best to house no less than 1 male and 8 or more females in a 180 gallon aquarium or larger, however, if your aquarium is not quite that large, a small harrium of one female and as little as 3 females will suffice. They are jumpers so keep a lid on the tank. Can be kept with other peaceful community fish just not more then 1 male anthias of any type per tank. It should be noted that because of their higher metabolism and constant activity in the water column, Anthias require multiple feedings each day and eat zooplankton so care should be taken to feed meaty foods. Frozen prepared foods will be more readily accepted than flake or pellet until the Anthias grow accustomed to a captive diet.
